Only improvement I think would be more timely appointments. Understandably with Colchesters rising population this is difficult. The electronic check in is fantastic.

My mother was informed by letter that she had a diagnosis that was life limiting 2-5yrs. She then received no further communication, investigations or support despite numerous calls to GP and requests to relevant hospital dept!! Eventually 5mths later we secured the required referral to a Specialist hospital who conducted further tests and a different diagnosis was given. My mother and the family are naturally distressed by; -diagnosis by letter - no offer of support - no referral to required other professional depts. -no apology for incorrect diagnosis -delay in tretament

The treatment I was given by the medical and nursing staff was perfect: they were extremely kind and very courteous, very helpful and very friendly. Nobody was patronizing or distant. I am very grateful.

Everything about my stay at Colchester General was perfect, nothing was to much trouble, very clean throughout, My stay was on the Copford Ward where I had a knee replacement, then transferred to Great Tey, which also was perfect, I thank you and all your staff that took care of me. Mrs Taylor.

I have been in Colchester hospital for a mastectomy and lymph node removal operations as well as numerous scans, blood tests and hospital admissions through A&E. I have also had chemotherapy there. The care has been fantastic every single time. The staff have been kind compassionate caring and competent. I have felt safe and looked after every time I've been there. The hospital has been spotless even during busy periods. My care and treatment has been first class. Thank you

My father was admitted to resus on the 11 th of January and the care he received was excellent. Dr Crowhurst treated dad and us with the utmost respect and care. Dad was then moved to the stroke unit and after one week sadly passed away due to the severity of his brain haemorrhage. The staff and doctors on this unit were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and the care that dad received was consistently of a high standard. We visited dad daily and were with him at the very end. The staff were kind , compassionate, and professional. The staff and doctors on this unit and in A&E do not deserve the bad press that the hospital constantly receives .

I was admitted for a laparoscopic bilateral hernia repair on 9/6/2014. My care was excellent. My surgeons Mr Arulampalam and Mr Bethune were exemplary both in their professional skill base and attitude. The Anaesthetists were caring and listened carefully to concerns. The Elective Care Team was caring and informative. Post op care on Mersea Ward was professional and I witnessed sensitive care administered to other inpatients. The ward was spotlessly clean and the staff were considerate at night providing a quiet environment. I was most impressed by the professionalism on the Nursing station and at staff changeovers. I am most grateful for the care I received at the DGH.
